INTRODUCTIONS ARE FIRST
For a new doggie client looking to join our pack this is how we get everyone introduced:
First, we let your doggie sniff around and get to know the new space, its smells and sounds. Kate likes to introduce herself and build some trust to let your doggie understand that she will be their protector.
When ready, your fur baby will get to meet the pack, one dog at a time.
Kate will initiate the introduction by first letting her existing pack sniff your dog’s items. Once that is done, Kate moves on to the next step. She will take your doggie, when ready, to first say hello at the entrance gate (our room divider).
When it becomes clear that the new doggie shows signs of general curiosity and their demeanour is neutral or calm, that’s when Kate introduces your dog to each member of the pack, one by one, and under strict supervision by Kate.
Kate starts with the dog who has the greatest threshold for respect of other dogs’ boundaries. Once your dog’s first encounter is successful and complete, is when the next doggie friend gets introduced.
This process continues individually until we get the new dog introduced to the full pack. Kate takes the time needed to ensure the introductions are fully supervised as this initial orientation is critical to overall future good manners in the daycare.
